Ms. Ulysse, Principal

Welcome to Toussaint L’Ouverture, Home of the Panthers!

As the Principal of PS 221 Toussaint L’Ouverture, I am privileged and honored to have the opportunity to be of service to such a diverse and committed group of educators, students and families. It is my firm belief that in order to maximize the student learning experience it is imperative that we create a safe learning environment that promotes high academic expectations while supporting all students’ social and emotional well-being. As a product of New York City’s public schools, I understand the need for children to have access to and receive quality educational experiences. My greatest joy is getting to know each and every student well and seeing them blossom over the years. I love children and seeing them grow to their fullest potential!

Our goal is to work collaboratively to provide our students with a rich learning environment. Student success is attributed to the partnership and the relationships we build within our community. It truly does take a village. Our vision is to always put children first! I want all students that enter the doors of PS 221 to thrive, in all ways possible. My team and I work closely with the district, teachers and community stakeholders to ensure that PS 221 is a place that makes students feel valued and safe while they grow emotionally and academically.

At PS 221, we want our children to grow up to be responsible, caring, compassionate individuals equipped with the appropriate skillsets to know what to do when faced with difficult decisions and challenges.

As your Principal and partner in education, it is important to me that everyone who walks through our doors-teachers, students and parents-feel welcome and valued here! I look forward to building meaningful relationships with all of you and please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to share.
